"10 things I hate about you" poem

I hate the way you talk to me,

and the way you cut your hair.

I hate the way you drive my car,

I hate it when you stare.

I hate your big dumb combat boots

and the way you read my mind.

I hate you so much it makes me sick,

it even makes me rhyme.

I hate the way you’re always right,

I hate it when you lie.

I hate it when you make me laugh,

even worse when you make me cry.

I hate it when you’re not around,

and the fact that you didn’t call.

But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,

not even close…

not even a little bit…

not even at all.

Water....everywhere!!!!

I've spent most of the day watching the rain, and boy has it rained. When Mother Nature is at her most fierce everything comes to a halt.I have never seen so many rivulets ,well torrents by dinnertime, coming down the hillside opposite right above where some very expensive new houses have been built!!!

By mid-morning the main road through the town was closed and the rain showed no sign of abating.By dinnertime, water was pouring through the back garden wall, the people in the cottages below were pumping out their cellars, numerous schools had been closed, more roads were shut and still the rain came down;Regardless.

Just after dinner it stopped...just like that!Wonderful,a little brightness poked through the heavy clouds. That's when my better half phoned to say he was on his way home with three flood casualties who had tried to get the school bus home but it had had to turn back because more roads were flooded and the closures were extending down the valley.Luckily he had the good sense not to stay at work as just 10 minutes after getting home the last direct road into the town was also shut.

When Mother Nature wants to make herself heard we all stop to listen and even when she has stopped her voice is heard for a long time after.

What a day!!!
And guess what?....it's still raining!

where to start...

...well,could be anywhere really, as this is intended to be simply a forum for my random thoughts, opinions, rantings and general musings. So whatever comes to mind whilst sat at my laptop then.

As is shown by the main picture (stoodley pike, todmorden.taken by me) i reside with my family in the upper calder valley,a beautiful place, when it's not raining, which it usually is.But when the sun shines it is a fabulous place for setting off early morning and walking the hills. We have spent many holidays driving up into the lakes to go walking when we had so much to explore on our own doorstep.Never has the saying "you can't see the wood for the trees" seemed more fitting.

Walking also enables me to indulge in my other hobby, photography.I am very very much the novice but i enjoy it anyway. The feeling of pride when somebody comments favourably on a picture i've taken is a real buzz.I can spend hours on Flickr when i get the chance.

But my main pride and joy are my family, they are such a delight. To see them growing up to be such well-adjusted people makes me feel like i have done my job properly, but this is also tinged with sadness for me,although i don't like to express it,as i know they will soon be flying the nest and i will miss them terribly. That's my two older girls,i also have two younger children who also seem to be growing up fast in front of our eyes. All four are different in so many ways.

Last, but by no means least,is my husband. Who single-handedly has been more hard work than all four of my brood put together!!we have been together for 21 years and married for 18 of those.(i'm sure i have more than earned my Blue Peter badge by now ).It has been a tumultuos and rocky road but it does seem to be settling down a lot as he gets over his mid-life crisis teehee.Unfortunately, this seems to coincide with middle aged spread and any jobs undertaken by him require much preparation and two coats of looking at for each phase!!But i love him just the same.....hey I am far from perfect, then again who isn't, but we can gloss over that with a big smile!
